Terms of Service

Last updated: August 18, 2026

Our service

SecondStart provides mail-in and local pickup or drop-off console modding in Columbia, South Carolina. Services may include homebrew installs, custom firmware, and storage upgrades.

Customer responsibility

You confirm that you own, or are authorized to service, the console you send us. You are responsible for ensuring that any games or software you use are legally obtained. SecondStart does not provide or facilitate pirated software.

Warranty and risk

Modding may void the manufacturer's warranty. By requesting service, you accept that risk and understand that software or hardware changes can affect how a console operates.

Liability

SecondStart is not responsible for pre-existing hardware defects, data loss, or console failure that was not caused by SecondStart's own negligence during the mod process. If SecondStart is liable for a claim, liability is limited to the amount paid for the service.

Payment

We provide proof that the requested work is complete before payment is due. Payment may be made through PayPal, Cash App, Venmo, or Square.

Shipping

For mail-in work, you are responsible for safe and appropriate packaging when sending your console to us. Return shipments are insured by SecondStart, and tracking information is provided.

Turnaround times

Any turnaround time we provide is an estimate, not a guarantee. Timing can change based on shipping, parts availability, the condition of the console, and the complexity of the request.

Refusing service

We may refuse service for consoles in an unsafe or hazardous condition, requests for clearly illegal modifications, or any situation where we cannot reasonably perform the work safely and responsibly.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina.
